Van Gogh digital exhibition

What an incredible exhibition. About 50 giant screens showing Van Goghs art animated with motion. So in Starry, Starry night the water was shimmering and in the landscapes, the clouds were floating past. Plus there was amazing music to add to the ambiance and quotes of Van Gogh to go with the paintings. Ingenious and inspiring.  I went with Shushann.

Frank Hurley presentation

Sue and I went to The NSW Library to see a presentation on the photographic work of Frank Hurley as he recorded the unsuccessful voyage of Shackleton and The Endurance - they got stuck on the ice in Antarctica and had to make their own way home.  Shackleton's extraordinary leadership ensured that every single member of the expedition got out alive.

I was mesmerised by the quality of the photography.  Mind blowing to think it was all done in the early 1900's with the limited and cumbersome cameras of the time.  Hurley made the whole thing come alive through photos, and without him, the heroic efforts would have been largely lost in history. Instead, it's a story that is famous and inspiring 100 years later.

Heavy metal evening with Yogi and Chris

Hi all

I don't remember going to the "Grab a Granny" disco !!  Must be because I drank so much. Ginger-beer will do that to you.  Sugar high amnesia.

Ha, ha Yogi, I also woke up with the 18+ band on my wrist!  And also a wad of toilet paper in my left ear.  We wore makeshift earplugs to cushion the noise.  Yogi's ones from the chemist were so effective we had to tap him on the shoulder when the music was over so he knew to clap!!

The heavy metal was surprisingly good. Intensely alive; full of energy.  And not over the top. No one smashed their guitar on stage or bit the head off a bat.  Much to my disappointment.

Watching "Limbo" with Elna at The Sydney Festival

Elna and I watched Limbo on Thursday night - a sexy, astonishing cabaret full of superhuman antics which was part of The Sydney Festival.  The performers were extraordinary athletes - I've never seen physiques like it.  There was sword swallowing, body contortion and gymnastics like I've never seen.  All to very catchy music and songs.  A wonderful evening.

The show took part in Hyde Park and I made use of the fading light before the event to get some photos of St Mary's Cathedral with my i-phone.  It sure is a beautiful cathedral.
